From the Yearly Meeting of Women Friends heldin New York by adjournments from the 27th of 5th mo tothe 1st of the 6th 1839 To the next Yearly Meeting ofWomen Friends to be held at Genesee. Dear Sisters, Having been favored in this our annual assembly with the renewed extensions of divine love thelanguage of some of our hearts has been “What shall we render to the Lord for all his benefits? And whilewe have to mourn the loss of some who have longpleaded with ^us in^ the language of love we have been con-soled with the evidence that there yet remains amongst us those that are willing to spend and bespent for the Gospel’s sake; And oh! dear sisters maywe count nothing too dear to part with that we maywin Christ what can be compared with this in-estimable treasure? Is not the right improvementof our time of vital importace [sic]. And oh! that we mayappreciate its worth by applying our hearts to wis-dom lest we should have to adopt the plaintive lan-guage “The summer is past the harvest is endedand we are not saved” We are taught by daily expe-rience that this is indeed a probationary state whereinstorms and tempests assail yet as we are unwearedly [sic]and faithfully dedicated to the service of our DivineMaster we shall experience that his everlasting arm isunderneath to support and that he will be a shelter from the heat a covert from the storm and as a migh-ty rock in a weary land” And dear young sisters mayyou be entreated to remember your Creator in the days of your youth while the evil day comes not nor the yearsdraw nigh when you shall say I have no pleasure in them The Lord loveth an early sacrifice and his promise is sure “They that seek me early shall find me” Andwhat greater joy and consolation to a beloved parentthan to see their children walking in the truth. Ohdear young friends may you buy this pearl of great price ````and sell it not may you be brought to feel the necessity ofliving und[er] the cross of Christ. There are among precious individuals both with youand us who have felt the reproofs of the Heavenly instruc-tor and have said in their hearts “Go thy way for this time at a more convenient season I will call for thee”But remember that times and seasons are not at ourcommand life is as uncertain to the youth as tothose farther advanced. May you be willing early toenter into the vineyard and labor for the harvestis truly great and faithfully [sic] laborers are few. Andmay every class amongst us be concerned faithfullyto maintain those noble and invaluable testomonies for which our worthy ancestors suffered much. And while we have been traveling in exercise for the welfare of society. Our minds have been drawn in sympathy with our oppressed brethren of the Af-rican race with a belief that he who has all power in his holy hand will in his own time effect their deliverance. And oh may we as instruments thereindo all in our power to undo the heavy burdens and let the oppressed go free. A deep interest alsoremains with us on behalf of our injured brethrenof the forest. And Friends of this yearly meetinghave been united in exercise and concern with thoseof Philadelphia in endeavoring to promote theirwelfare. In a renewed feeling of sisterly affectionwe bid you farewell. Signed on behalf of the Meetingby Ann M. Comstock Clk. Extract from New York Yearly Meeting.
