My dear Sister Amy,
I was told many
weeks ago that I was going to take care of a
a [sic] sick person & a grave was near & then I
was going in a another direction & there I was
to attend upon the sick _ My sister was taken
violently ill last sunday raising blood for
the first time: we were greatly alarmed as
violent chill & fever ensued, we hope the
danger is past but is very feeble _ Mrs Grannis of
Le Roy sent to me last week to hasten to her bed
side if possible as she is confined with the Typ
hoid fever. I calculated to have gone the
day my sister was taken ill. I shall remain
here till she is well_ if so, I must ask of you the
favor going to Chapmans (& unite your taste
with Wilburs) & give my compliments & ask him
^to^ select for me a handsome muslin, not very light
nor blue or yellow. equal to 9 yds of calico & a
parasol_ I sent home for a package to be left at
congress Hall or perhaps it may have been left
at the depot to the care of Isaac Post_ if you can
do this errand for me it will greatly increase
my obligations to you _ if they should fail to call
at your store for it I should like to have
it sent by express to the care of S Phelps.
How shall I trim my sleeves & caps? Please
(Page 2)
send my dress making pamphlet
on top of your book case. _ do call & see
My Tenant & cheer her in her efforts to do
good, for she feels much alone. I have
not yet heard from Mrs Bush but hope
to soon. if you have an opportunity to send
her cape & the work that Mrs Marshall is doing
I suppose the she will need it as she calculates
to go direct from Dunkirk to N.Y. soon ^when she gets well^
woman she is to be pitied, I know you feel
for her in her trials as well as myself,
I shall go to mr Cook as soon as sister recovers
Now dear sister Amy, thr the Lord bless
you abundantly & brother ^Isaac^ full as much
if not more, for all your kindness to the &
^the^ children of men & me in particular
Love to the girls _
Ever your sincere and
loving friend SCO
