John Noble Wilford is a senior science writer at The New York Times who, for over three decades, covered many major missions of the US space program. Not limited to reporting on space, he flew through the eye of a hurricane, submerged in research submarines, and endured wilderness survival school in search of material for his stories. He is the author of The Riddle of the Dinosaur, The Mapmakers, and The Mysterious History of Columbus, as well as several books on space exploration.
