<p>(Page 1)<br /><br /> New York 4<sup>th</sup> mo 24<sup>th</sup> 1828<br /> Dear Cousin<br /> I have heard Levi Lundy expects to set<br /> out to morrow for Auburn it reminds me of conve-<br /> ying a few lines to my dear cousin who I often<br /> Silently secretly visit and sympathise with<br /> under this permitted close trial of parting with<br /> a beloved sister, I think it must be a great<br /> consolation to thee to be with her and enjoy her<br /> sweet company though trying to be eye witness<br /> to her sufferings. I think thee and cousin Isaac<br /> has claimed the sympathy of many of your friends<br /> A path exempt from trial my dear cousin we<br /> have no right to expect. Cousin Phebe<br /> Haviland has been poorly several weeckes [sic]<br /> they think her complaint somthing [sic] like disssesery [sic][dysentery?]<br /> she is confined to the house and some days <br /> to the room some days she has her sewing work<br /> Esther Seaman has been with her 2 weeks -<br /> Aunt Amy [Hubbs?] is in usual health her<br /> beloved son David embarked about a week<br /> a-go for the East India’s [sic] he expects to be<br /> gone ten or twelve months he is employed<br /> by a merchant to purchase tea.<br /><br /> (Page 2)<br /><br /> I dont that I can say much that will be<br /> interesting to thee respecting out monthly Meting [sic]<br /> we remain in the same State as respects clerks <br /> only appoint one for the day. Mary M. Hicks has [served?]<br /> one meting [sic] her mother sat by her. last Month<br /> Abigail Thurston assisted her. Phebe Johnson<br /> case is refered [sic] from month to month, Mary-<br /> Wright late Nelson is received, aunt Anna Willis<br /> case is taken off the minutes with a desire that she<br /> will keep silent, cousin Thomas’ and Phebe’s remains<br /> the same. it is likely thee will have a more particular<br /> account from Jericho than I can give thee – <br /> it is Quartly [sic] Meting[sic] at Westbury this week I do not ^expect^<br /> we shall attend shall be engaged about moving – <br /> I have not heard what thy prospect is about returning<br /> to Long Island if thee does not come to Yearly Meting [sic] <br /> a letter from thee would be very exceptible [sic].
