Author of Out of Eden: An Odyssey of Ecological Invasion, Alan Burdick will discuss his latest book. Burdick writes for numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, Natural History and Discover, where he is senior editor. One of his essays was featured in The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2003. He was awarded the 1995 AAAS Science Journalism Award for magazine feature writing and the 1992 Society of National Association Publications for magazine features. Out of Eden is the winner of the 2005 Overseas Press Club’s Whitman Bassow Award for best reporting in any medium on international environmental issues, and a 2005 National Book Award finalist.
