Sentiment books were popular in the 19th century – a precursor to high school yearbooks and their personal messages from friends. Martha Colvin’s book contains sentiments written by friends from Rochester's Clover Street Seminary, including the founder Celestia Angenette Bloss (1812-1855). In addition to running the school, Bloss wrote history books including Heroines of the Crusades.
