Samuel J. Wood Esqre. of Peekskill in this state is one of those who suffered the loss of every thing they had by the destruction of Graytown. This was the act of our own government, and Mr Wood had a fair claim for reparation on the public treasury. Hitherto, however, he has asked for justice from the government without success.
While he is prosecuting his claim before Congress he must live as he desired to receive some office which shall give him a subsistence till Congress finds time to listen to his case and grant him the indemnity which the country fairly owes him. It seems to me that
