Letter from Simon Cameron to Abraham Lincoln, November 27, 1862

Lochid [?] Nov. 24, 1862

My Dear Sir

I enclose a letter, from Mr Brewster [?], my counsel, in the case of Butler, who you know averted [?] me for his imprisonment, and which responsibility you so promptly and handsomely relieved me of, by adopting this [?] out as one of the Governments, as it really was--

You are a Lawyer, and will see the propriety of ordering a few to be sent to the lawyers engaged. If you think three is more than I should have employed, I will pay Dennis [?] myself -- only show [?] me that Meredith & Burten are paid at once.

Very try rs

Simon Cameron

The President
