all edges gilt. Each of the covers’ corners hold a wreath circling the symbols of the four Gospel authors—angel, lion, eagle and ox. Stylized oak leaves occupy panels surrounding a sower—likely referencing Matthew’s “Parable of the Sower.” Supporting this central wreath is a staff, around which two ribbons reading “Scripture Parables” are wrapped.
