Dear All, Your long expected communications came this afternoon and you can scarcely conceive how pleasant the perusal of them was and as an evidence I have taken my pen altho I am very nearly sick with a severe headache I have been quite suffering with aches and pains for some time have had several treatments by Dr F...? and have felt ??? better if it were more easy I would like further treatment but there are so many things in the way He seems to have considerable to do I saw Mrs Plum there twice she was surprised to learn you [illegible] recently been in NY withou^t^ seeing any of them so we conclude you failed in seeing A F Davis and wife Joseph and self went to NY on ?? day morning to be at the ???`next day Sam and girls were

and John Cornell were in attendance SL is not a favourite <br>

but many thought him very excellent and the others were <br>

so altogether we had a satisfactory time 5th day evening <br>

held our quarterly freedmen meeting heard the reports <br>
 +
and minutes of the executive [com?] also the report of this <br>
 +
[com?] who had been on a visit to the Government [illegible] <br>
 +
and [illegible] adjacent Colonel O Brient had recently been in <br>
 +
NY and much of interest [rolating?] to the freedmen [illegible] <br>

[illegible] their great desire to educate themselves and <br>

[their?] capacity to do it was enforced by striking instan <br>

ces which had come under his personal knowledge <br>
