Dear All I have taken the pen but really
I am very much of a blank having but
little knowledge or thought disconnected from
sickness anxiety and watching for weeks
that are passed. I have repeatedly asked
my good husband to answer your very
interesting letter but reading interspersed
with an occasional nap is so much more
agreeable that I have failed thus far
It is five weeks since Stephen's children
were taken with Scarlet Fever Mary severely
and a few days first The girl who had lived
with them the past winter had been to NY
to secure a place in a few days was taken
poorly which proved to be the measles thus
making four to be taken care of. Many very
ill and Esther & children had not had the
measles which contributed to E's anxiety she
having the greatest dread of the complaint
they had great difficulty to find helpers to
care and so for the sick John Gaskin was

Morning still early everything looks fresh
and beautiful not many apple blossoms or
any kind of fruit [illegible] I fear are going the
same way as yours have gone the [bushes?] are
