It becomes my painful duty to apprise you of the death of my dear wife "Lizzie" on Saturday night and [unclear] of Consumption. and which hated disease discovered itself [unclear] her lungs nearly one year ago. and while everything was done to check its ravages it [unclear] to be of little or no avail. and I am forced to accept the judgement of friends that our little daughter "Amy" must soon follow her mother with the same course. and I hardly need to tell you I have learned to hate the name of Consumption.
