Dear Mrs. Gannett

    I have just received

your good news letter - - It is splendid that the man contributed the $9000 [$900?] and made a "Helen Barrett Montgomery" scholarship. I [prefer?] [ ??? ] it a [?] "Mrs W. S. [?] [scholarship?] [although?] there is very [??  ??] for that one! - Now I wish there were 25 other men who would give $2000 - and make 25 scholarships - that is, raise the original [amount?] of $100,000 - it would be most magnificent - wouldn't it? Why won't the stars come forth - & make us [?] !!
