Oneida Castle N.Y. Feb 4 -56 Dear Mrs Post. Your note to Mr. May, with your reference to myself, was sent to me. This terrible storm will prevent me from lecturing at Syracuse, & I have also abandoned the idea of stopping at Rochester. I have no given any lectures on my own responsibility this semester, but have simply accepted of invitations to give one of a course in several cities in smaller towns. I am sorry to hear that your lectures have not been well attended this semester. That is, however, the general complaint everywhere. I suppose there is a reaction now, in consequence of the business having been overdone. Should I go East another semester, it would please me to stop at Rochester, if arrangements
