The dont mention Isaacs health. I hope he is growing young again
The money invested in Colorado has returnd and I have decided
to use it here _ so I gave [illegible] liberty to write for the same I am
indebted to my friend Amy for her kind interest in my behalf, how often
I recall the pleasant [hours?] I have spent with you and hope you may
yet be able to [illegible] us in this [illegible] [exercise?] I am eight years
thy senior and when I look back I feel as if I could perform much
then compar’d with now __I am very glad you have an improvd
prospect of a calm quiet old age _now I have deeply sympa
thized with you in your trials tho’ I have not been ever in a state of
luxury and cannot so fully appreciate heavy losses but in regard to
the shape of your privations and the consequent changes to which you
have been subjected perhaps I have felt as deeply sensitive as any
of you friends My [lot?] has been a varied one and the changes
have been sometimes pretty hard to reconcile but on the whole
I am convinced that there is no other way whereby we can learn
[illegible] and be qualified to be very useful in this world but by a
course of schooling and so I am now settling down in this my
adopted home with a feeling of contentment which I was incapable
of [seing?] in the prospect I shrink from so great a change and
yet as there seem’d no other way I came and now after more
than a year I find my home [best?] agreable and comfortable my
son [H.B.?] is an amiable man and is very attentive to my wants
[Dorcey?] has enjoyed better health [after?] the [first?] season than for several
years [illegible] She is now able to do without hired help except
so that we are a small family this winter __ Their daughter [Sellie?]
Curtis has two children [9?] and over 5 years __ her husband is a very intelli
gent industrious man __ and she seems very happy they reside in
[Adrian?] [illegible] We are having more snow than usual but the weather is
very mild now.
