Have just returned from New York quite a number of milkmen went down to get pay for last month and make araingment [sic] for another year. I do not know but all got their pay and some sold for an-nother year for the same they got last year some for less. But I dad (sic) not sell as the men wanted for less and I wanted the same as last year 3 1/4 and 4 1/4 6 month each what kind of araingment [sic] if any we shall make I know not. We are beginning to work out preparing for our summer crops have engage 2 tons Gnane [sic: grain?] for about 90 [$] not the first quality. Samuel Willet told me to day he had received a letter from Hannah Arnold saying they were willing to go to California and would like to go the 5th of next month that William and Stephen had offered to pay the passage of 2 girls and give the family the use of a farm. I believe the money will ^be raised from what was said in New York to day. We had some talk about what painting that house of ours just as we were coming away. I hardly know what the conclusion was. but I think you had best to do what you think best for all parties. I want the property kept in decent order. This morning William Hicks got in the cars, and I had a very plasent [sic] chat with him has been from home about 3 weeks has been to Pitsburg [sic] with Willet looking about making coal oil he did not say how they succeeded the business for Willet. I think William wants to be doing more business than he can do on this Place. We here [hear] Dr. Moore is better so as to ride out several miles and be the better for it.
