Second Day [to Isaac Post] [186-] Thy letter to Matt has been read and were glad to hear from you it appears you had not received mine written on new years. might I think probably it has come to hand [?] We have been to NY attended the quarterly and two meetings for The Freedmen tho first in Cod Institute The next evening one composed [?] principly of Friends at the [?] house Stephen & Bay had thin effort written out which was really interesting in it he spoke of the superintendants wife in very high terms know knowing how to com bine great [?] work moderation in this care & drafting hard he thought he would dispense anything sent to him as [?] The secretary of the National Freedmens association was present-said from what he had heard it would be well to look after those plans over them for there had been frauds Bay said one had been removed on that act and we wonder if it was the one he spoke of as being dissatisfied with There is a wonderful amount of goods being sent but from act not near enough to relieve a few of us have just raised about 400 $ last week in addition to what we had Shall send another large box this week and we are working at home independent of society I think we have a barrel ready to forward I as little as possible for ourselves The girls staid in NY a few days. went to the orthodox sewing room said there was large piles of clothes made they have done a great deal
