Dear All, Your long expected communications came
this afternoon and you can scarcely conceive how
pleasant the perusal of them was and as an evidence
I have taken my pen altho I am very nearly sick
with a severe headache I have been quite suffering
with aches and pains for some time have had seve
ral treatments by Dr F[lussey?] and have felt [illegible] bett
er if it were more easy I would like further treatment
but there are so many things in the way He seems to
have considerable to do I saw Mrs Plum there twice she was
surprised to learn you [illegible] recently been in NY withou^t^

and minutes of the executive [com?] also the report of this

and [illegible] adjacent Colonel O Brient had recently been in
NY and much of interest [rolating?] to the freedmen [illegible]
[illegible] their great desire to educate themselves and
[their?] capacity to do it was enforced by striking instan
