spoke of 3 or 4 men ^[full hands?]^ after a few months instinction were
fitted and amply qualified to take charge of several perhap
2 or 3 hundred acres aprice and were going on in a very
satisfactory manner Last spring it was thought that to
send teachers was the greatest need and accordingly
schools were commenced [illegible] there are many ^more^ who want
to got to school and we have been trying for some time to raise
sufficient to send 2 teachers ^from Westbury^ one from[e?] [Manhasset?] which will be
3 I believe we shall do this in addition to our sewing which
a few of us are earnestly engaged in about the first of the
year we sent a very large box 250 garments and have [illegible]
collection ready to go soon E P [Willets?] and self bought goods
recently amounting to 268 shall probably send a part of them
without making I have been cutting and making all day
yesterday was our sewing day we generally have from
8 to 15 who ^sew^ seldom the last [no?] I think it strange so few
co e it is a hoy many way I rejoice ever that we
can lay aside our own [cares?] writing in the
pleasant duty however diversified in thought on other
matters The subject has been discussed at the close of 3 [illegible]
the [illegible] friends ^are^doing something towards clothing them
But there are many among us who ^very few except our [illegible]^ do not and in the [illegible]
work but enough of this You [illegible] about Ann Titus the heal
is now put off tile next month Isaac does not know what I
would have William do with her I constantly think when there
is so much evidence of the need of restraint as there is in
her case it is the husbands duty to place her in a position
where she can be cared for and presented from spending I
might say squandering the earnings which may all be needed

at the top upside down: Amys act of the trial was
interesting to us as I had often wondered how N had resulted she need not
fear being too [illegible]
