First day morning
My dear Amy
Seeing it is so near
the time for me to receive my money
(that is the income), thee may as well<br/
take all up that is in the bank if thee
has not already been there, and if thee has
Amy, if thee is willing to go again and
send it, all but, the 2 shillings (over—
thee smiles, that thee need not send,--
When money has come from New York
for me the letter has been registered, it
goes then from Post Master to Post Master
they are responsible if there is a loss, --
The Post Master here keeps the letter, &
sends for me, or sends word to me, no one
but myself can take it—perhaps that
will be a good way for thee to do, the P. O.
Master can tell thee.
When I think of some things I want
to do, pickle some peaches, Can tomatoes
[etc.?]—together with making the change in [Matters?], I do not like to be scant of money --if I only had the plumbs—it seems as if I could see them—do the remaining lims hang full,--does it seem a year since we proped them, and grieved to hear them break. I would say it was about 3 months ago— My package has come safe—and is in the office when I have been to the P. O. (it is in the same entry) the express man has not been in, the boy would not give it to me, but I am in no hurry I know it is handy by—Amy I am glad, that amid so many unprofitable Comers, thee has now one that is worth [cross-out]

thee trouble—if she is no burthen to thee the money payer but when people are a burthen, money is worth but little— Amy, people like Susan B. Anthony the very ones here I am told that once [hissed ?] her, now applaud her—she was very much liked out here—at the last free meeting. I do not mean at collins. I have not been at collins yet if I go which I intend to I can not stay but a day or two—just now I go to Church I started-- and it is time The friends meeting is close by sometimes I go there & it seems real nice to sit down and be still. O how hollow how empty—the church this young minister and the people----but I find, you must go somewhere—or the people won’t hear you talk—you can have no influence Now I must go (Universalist---but no better than any other) goodby Esther Amy come one of these days won’t thee? don’t forget the money

After sealing thy letter dear Amy thine was handed to me with the [check?] of $20 still I believe I will send the letter I have written, tho thee did not say how much there was left. but I may need some of and shall not after other money comes----! I think I shall burn coal in my room, I can hire a parlor cooking stove----and coal is the cheapest---I am afraid thee is fixing thy self so thee cannot come to see me--, I am all right, only I feel that I am away from you all,--if I could only transfer my privileges over to or with you all, I’d do it, Amy I am glad the shawl has come, I will go in the

morning and get them, [dress?]--and all—
