                        Lowell  June 19th  1842

Dear Friend William

                                         I have just returned

from taking a walk, with a young Gentle man, Mr George Johnson, with whom I have become acquainted since my arrival in the city.

  Its [sic] excessively warm, and I feel very little

indeed like writing a present, but Mr Levy is coming down to the city of Boston to morrow morning and you would hardly excuse me for neglect ing so favorable an opportunity of sending you a line free of charge, as I shall not excuse you if you dont [sic] drop me a line back by him

  My health is very good indeed; the first day

after I came here, if I have a mind, I might have imagined myself quite ill; I felt very lonely indeed, coming right out of the midst of so many pleasant and friendly associations as there are in New Bedford & Boston, to busy my- self for a while here in confinement to a Barbers shop. its like is almost when compared with three or four month past life; However I begin to feel already more reconciled to my new home my "Foster brother" is very pleasant as also his wife, thus far -- I have formed a few new acquaintances since I have been here, among them Mr Henry, Louis's two or three, & Mr Johnson -- above refered [sic] too; the last I think a pleasant young gent; he will in some measure supply your
