[Mrs?] Post
My Dear Friend
It is sometime since I said good bye to my Rochester friends, and it was my intention to have written you a few lines before this time. This is the first opportunity I have had and the second letter I have written since I returned home, and when I add that the other one, was a business letter, I know you will excuse my delay. My time has been very much occupied I only rested one day for I found my sister waiting for me, and I went to work upon a wooden [bed?] as fast as I could, and my trunk is not entirely unpacked yet. When I left you I did not, for I could not, thank you for all your kindness to me during my stay at your home, for the memory of the pleasant hours spent with you all, came to my mind, and for the moment I could not recover my self possession. Therefore I thank you now, with a grateful heart.
