I thought this page was full and was folding it up and discovered my mistake and now I have not time to fill it. Charley Hicks is at home they were unwilling to keep him longer as there was no prospect of his improving Saml went for him he seemed glad to get home but he continues to grow I suppose more idiotic they think of taking him to the Bloomingdale Asylum We expect to have lectures again this winter and as the election excitement is over meetings processions etc there is time for our young people to think of some- thing else I ????? to rejoice at the result and hope we shall see an end sometime of this terrible rebellion and slavery when freedom and peace may spread the continent over. I urged Joseph to vote this time for it seems to me it might be right tho [sic] for several days before the election I said nothing and when he went to Roslyn to smile on that day I thought I would leave him at liberty to judge what was best for him and said nothing I may have been inconsistent and don't know but I was Mary W is coming to Isaac's on a visit in a day or two It is quite cold this morning our folks have about finished carting stalks and gathering in what litter remains out I wish you had some of our cabbage which needs to be eaten and some other veget ables as for fruit we have but little for winter and not nice. Am sorry Catharine does not improve more I hoped she had nearly recovered I have very hastily scrawled this page but hope we shall get a good return for it soon it is so pleasant to hear all the little items of your every day life affectionaly [sic] Mary
