Ever Dear Friend: After looking and waiting for so many months in Washington we are at last on our way to the sunny south to share the dangers and assist in the work of >u<Reconstruction - a perilous work - as the recent riots at Mobile?? & other places show -- But darling husband has rec'd from Relief Justice Chase? the appointment of Register ^ under the Bankrupt Act^ for his old Congressional District in La - And we go thither with every prospect of success -- And to enter heart & soul into the work of reorganizing the loyal elements of that state for self defense in the impending struggle; We are well, and feel strong and buoyant. nothing was needed to enable us to enjoy to the fullest extent our constant happenings - but some active and congenial occupation
