New writer

My Dear Friends - I have but a moments[sic] time to write this morning as I am very busy preparing for our long journey to the land of our ?? labor so that you still have to depend upon our next letter for we? excluded? of our late ? experiences and future projects?? Suffice it to say that I have accomplished one of my objects in visiting Washington.  ?? the power?? of expecting the colored citizens of my state thru?? the end of the Bankrupt Act? by means of which we hope to be able to cut up the great estates of the southern planters so that the negroes may be enabled to purchase & thereby secure ?? homes. The law when framed & passed was not included by its authors or suggesting?? to work out such purpose but thank god[sic] it does in the south and we intend to make it a substitute for Slavery?? compensation measure?? But beyond this there is still a great work to perform in Reconstruction?? and we propose contributing our labor and our love if needful to the cause --It will be actively (end of writing)
