I am to speak here the 10th-and then remain here 10 days after- then commence working east on the W.P.R.R.- Sister Mary writes that Mother has had another fall- & that it affected her very much as the one did two years ago,-for 10-12 hour- but she was better when she finished her letter the 24th Sept- Now I am fearing that my staying away from our dear Mother these days- that may prover her last ones, will be a source of regret to me, ever after-One doesn't know- can't know- when & where to stay or go- our family ties are so strong-& it hurts us so sadly when they are sundered?-& our loved ones gone out of our sight-Hannah used to say-all we (meaning we three girls) have left of home, is our Mother sitting there in her rocking chair-"when she's gone from that, we shall have no home"-little thinking her no 9 home-would be soonest left without its Mother. Well, I must go out & walk & drink in this delightful elixir, atmosphere- the day is perfect- with love to you and all the children as ever- your sister Susan B. Anthony.
