Westbury 3 month 9th/59 Our dear Isaac Amy & Children We are again at home and it seems almost like a dream now that it is all over nothing but the pleasant memories which remain so freshly daguerrotyped as to be ineffaceable. Our journey was without incident except children and snow which we had in sufficient quantities. It seems to me we had in our car near 20 children some of whom had been travelling several days not any more inter- esting for that and from Syracuse to Albany a pretty good snow storm about noon the sun shone and all became bright and beautiful reached NY a little after 4P.M. Lodged at coursing RR Willits and on [Sunday?] afternoon arrived at our depot where we found a pleasant face awaiting us at our domicil all things had a holiday look so clean and comfortable the table set the large chair drawn up to the fire so cosy and lastly the eager glad welcome which greeted us made it really delightful after tea we accompanied the girls to the reading circle at John Nelsons and although quite weary had a pleasant time It does one good to go from home I felt like exchanging a friendly greeting with all which was reciprocated. I told J I was interested in seeing and listening to Curtis's but I think I would give the preferrince to the reading as more improving and less likely to be injurious from our exertion that is the great objection to dancing indeed it may be the only real one This eve J and girls have gone to the school house to hear the debate whether woman occupies her [time?] position and feeling tired I have remained
