A broadside, or broadsheet is a single sheet with information printed on one side that is intended to be posted, publicly distributed, or sold. Broadsides have appeared as a formal pronouncement in matters of law and order; as a purveyor of warning in an emergency, as an instrument of protest, political controversy, and personal dispute; as a medium for entertainment; and as commercial advertising of all sorts. It has been a universal medium of expression at every level, aumented only, historically, for the more literate, the pamphlet.
