The Huntington-Hooker Family
The Huntingtons and Hookers were prominent families in England, who were among the earliest Puritan settlers in New England. The family credited Thomas Hooker with “founding” Connecticut in 1636. This family had the rare opportunity to trace their lineage far into the past, leading to incredibly detailed genealogy scrapbooks. These scrapbooks include photos, birth, marriage, and death dates of most Hooker family members, as well as branches extending beyond the immediate Huntington-Hooker line. Beyond just important dates, there are pages filled with biographies and stories of family members. These biographies illustrate how wealth and assets were passed down the family line, list the professions of various Huntington-Hooker men, and discuss important military service from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. There are also photographs of different family homes and estates. This scrapbook provides an incredible account of the family’s genealogy and history and is unique in its level of detail and range of documents.
